When I started in the financial services business in 1997, I didn't fully understand that much of the industry was focused primarily on investments rather than holistic planning. My feeling has always been that a sound financial plan was something everyone needed, so that was my aim when I transitioned to the industry: to serve everyday people with comprehensive financial planning. To my surprise, many in the industry told me providing financial planning for everyday people was not a business model that would work, and that didn't sit well with me. I didn't think then, nor do I think now, that the amount of money you make or the amount of assets you've accumulated should dictate your ability to benefit from good financial planning and advice. If you are willing to engage in building your wealth, that should be the determining factor.

After taking some time to learn the business, when I was ready to start my own financial planning practice, I wanted the practice to reflect the ideals of helping people to maximize their potential through a collaborative approach and providing service that was personalized to clients specific needs, with a focus on good stewardship as a cornerstone principle. In my own past, I had the unfortunate personal experience of working with an advisor who made recommendations for me without taking the time to understand me, my dreams and desires, or what it would take to bring those to fruition. I believe that as advisors, our job has many facets, including: making the personal connection to understand what our clients want and need, serving as a visionary to help them see how their dreams can become reality, problem solving to break down barriers to them achieving their goals, and helping them remain accountable to the plans we've laid out so they can systematically make progress towards their dreams and goals. It is not the aim of Peak Level Advisors to be the biggest financial planning firm or manage the most assets, but instead, to ensure that we can have close, productive, win-win relationships with the clients we serve and make a profound impact on their lives. Approaching our client relationships this way may be more time intensive, but it allows us to be on the same page as our clients, providing advice that they can believe in, that they can be invested in as a collaborative partner, and that can give them peace of mind to know that we are leaving no stone unturned in helping them maximize their potential.
